Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation, Salzburg Austria

October 6 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Monks playing the violin on a montain from the JInghui Guangxuan Symphony Orchestra.

The Jinghui Guangxuan Symphony Orchestra, a unique ensemble named after the revered Buddhist Masters Jinghui and Guangxuan, consists entirely of monastic members—both monks and nuns. Originating as the Guangxuan Arts Ensemble in 2008, under the guidance of Master Shiwule, the orchestra was established to promote the values of genuineness, goodness, and beauty from traditional Eastern culture, with the overarching goal of contributing to global peace.

As the first orchestra in history to integrate Chan practice with musical performance, the Jinghui Guangxuan Symphony Orchestra stands as a pioneer in spreading messages of goodness and love through their art. The ensemble is committed to musical excellence, while simultaneously emphasizing the cultivation of virtues essential to the path of Buddhahood.

Every member of the orchestra embarks on their musical training upon entering the monastery, following the teachings of Master Shiwule. Their daily lives are a fusion of Chan practice and the arts, where they seamlessly combine spirituality with singing, dancing, and playing instruments.

This special event will be held at the Salzburg Mozarteum Foundation’s Großer Saal in Austria, offering a serene and inspiring setting for this harmonious blend of music and spirituality. The concert is open to the public with free admission, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
